Clinton Payne Joins Defense Litigation Practice of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in Miami

MIAMI, FL. – The national law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that Clinton S. Payne has joined the firm's Defense Litigation Practice. He will practice in Hinshaw's Miami office. Mr. Payne comes to Hinshaw from DeMahy Labrador Drake Victor Payne & Cabeza, where he had been a partner for nine years.
"Clinton is widely respected throughout South Florida for his reputation in defending businesses, insurance carriers and professionals in a wide range of lawsuits," said Ronald L. Kammer, partner-in-charge of Hinshaw's Miami office. He added, "We are pleased that he will lend his skills to our long-established and formidable South Florida defense litigation team, which handles matters across the nation, throughout the state and locally."
Patrick Koenen, co-chair of Hinshaw's Defense Litigation Group, noted, "Clinton's experience handling a full-range of insurance, professional liability and tort-related litigation bolsters our capabilities to defend businesses and individuals in these types of cases anywhere in the country." Terese Drew, Mr. Koenen's fellow co-chair of the Defense Litigation Group, added, "Our Defense Litigation Group already handles a wide variety of litigation on a national scale for Fortune 500 and other clients. Clinton's addition will enable us to handle an even greater volume of cases and to take on new clients as well."

He added, "I have long been impressed by the firm's ability to defend clients nationally in complex and large-scale litigation and class actions. Mr. Payne focuses his practice in defense litigation in the areas of premises liability, products liability, personal injury, insurance coverage, professional liability and medical malpractice defense.
Mr. Payne serves on two committees of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida: (1) the Ad Hoc Advisory Committee on Rules and Procedures (2007–present); and (2) the Ad Hoc Committee on Attorney Admission, Peer Review and Attorney Grievance (2010–present). He began his legal career as a judicial law clerk to Judge Federico A. Moreno of the same court.
Mr. Payne earned his J.D. from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 1994. He completed a portion of his legal studies at the University of Virginia School of Law. Mr. Payne received his B.A. from Stanford University in 1990.
