Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that Chad A. Jennings has returned to the firm's Defense Litigation group as a partner in the Belleville, Illinois, office. Previously a senior attorney at the W.R. Berkley Insurance Company/Midwest Employers Casualty Company, Jennings has extensive experience representing companies in insurance defense litigation, risk management, coverage analysis, and regulatory compliance.
"We are very pleased to welcome Chad back to Hinshaw," said Dawn Sallerson, the partner-in-charge of the firm's Belleville office. "I personally mentored and worked closely with Chad during his previous tenure at the firm, and I have always been impressed with his ability to work strategically and collaboratively. He brings a valuable perspective from the business side of the insurance industry, which will be of great benefit to our clients."
Jennings joined Hinshaw as an associate in 2004 and advanced to partner in 2008 before joining W.R. Berkley Insurance Company/Midwest Employers Casualty Company in 2011. A seasoned litigator, he handled excess claims and complex liability matters in 35 states related to a range of issues, including medical malpractice, Medicare, asbestos, and general liability. He decided to return to Hinshaw because of the firm's collegial environment, depth of resources, and the opportunity to work with former colleagues.
"I've worked with a large number of law firms from coast to coast, and Hinshaw is a very unique, familial place," Jennings said. "Returning to Hinshaw is like coming back home. I'm excited to work again with one of the nation's leading defense litigation practices. With my in-house experience, I bring added depth to the team in a wide array of defense litigation contexts. I'm looking forward to helping to expand the practice, and I'm also excited to contribute as a mentor, having benefited so much from Dawn's mentorship when I was a junior attorney."
Prior to joining Hinshaw in 2004, he was Assistant State's Attorney in the St. Clair County State Attorney's Office. He received his B.S. in political science and sociology from Southern Illinois University and his J.D. from the University of Illinois, Chicago, John Marshall Law School.
