About the 2026 Notable Leaders in Law Award
The annual Crain’s New York Business Notable Leaders in Accounting, Consulting & Law award recognizes senior-level leaders in accounting, consulting, and law who have demonstrated the ability to effect positive change within their organizations, serve as role models and mentors, and contribute in meaningful ways to their communities through leadership roles in professional and nonprofit service organizations.

About Brian
Firm Leadership
Brian co-chairs Hinshaw’s Consumer Financial Services group and serves on the firmwide Management Committee, Executive Committee, and Strategic Growth Committee. He helped spearhead the opening of several of Hinshaw’s new offices in the past five years, including its Dallas, New Jersey, Washington, D.C., and Cleveland offices.
As co-leader of the Consumer Financial Services group, Brian has been instrumental in growing the group by more than 100 attorneys to over 150 and helping drive the group’s revenue growth by more than 120 percent since 2022. As a result of this expansion, Hinshaw’s Consumer Financial Services group is among the largest in the nation and has received numerous prestigious national recognitions.
Legal Practice
Brian manages a sophisticated, national litigation practice. Recognized as a leading banking law attorney, he represents financial services companies in complex litigation matters, regulatory compliance, and mortgage servicing issues, and is routinely sought after to speak at industry conferences across the country.
Brian is widely respected for his leadership in mortgage servicing litigation and is frequently called upon to handle the industry’s most complex, high-exposure, and precedent-setting matters. Among his notable recent wins, Brian and his team secured a first-impression appellate win in New York in the Deutsche Bank v. LeTennier matter, addressing the alleged improper use of generative artificial intelligence.
Brian and his team also recently obtained a precedent-setting win in the In re Bowman matter before the Supreme Court of Maryland. This significant decision favorably settled the question that passive trusts are not subject to Maryland’s state licensing requirements.
Community Involvement
In addition to managing his active practice and firm leadership roles, Brian is committed to numerous civic and professional organizations. He serves on the board of the Development Authority of the North Country, a large state authority chartered to support the infrastructure needs of the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum.
He is also a long-time member of the Oswego University Council, a member of the Board of Directors for the Lewis County Health Systems Foundation, and serves on the AAA-ICDR Financial Services Advisory Committee.
