Barbara Fernandez Named Among the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s 40 Under 40 Outstanding Lawyers of South Florida

The national law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that Miami partner Barbara Fernandez was named among the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s 40 Under 40 Outstanding Lawyers of South Florida.
Ms. Fernandez was selected by a committee comprised of well-known local attorneys and community leaders. The award recipients were chosen based on demonstrated excellence in the legal field and contributions to the community.
Ms. Fernandez is Co-Chair of Hinshaw’s Hispanic/Latino Attorney Network and is also a member of the Evaluation Committee for Hinshaw’s Attorney Life Committee. She is also an active member of the Cuban American Bar Association, The Florida Bar, American Bar Association, and the American Collector’s Association, Members Attorney Program. Ms. Fernandez is also the President, for three consecutive terms, of the Dade County Defense Bar Association.
Ms. Fernandez focuses her litigation practice in the areas of consumer and class action litigation. She has extensive experience in the defense of individual and class action claims involving the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act, Telephone Consumer Protection Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act. Her clients include lending institutions, debt collection agencies, debt buyers and lawyers.
Additionally, Ms. Fernandez has experience handling Magnusson-Moss warranty claims, Florida Lemon Law matters, actions involving vicarious liability of rental and leasing companies, as well as defending claims involving catastrophic personal injuries, motor vehicle accidents, construction site accidents, defamation and civil theft.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is the world's leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis. The Foundation funds more cystic fibrosis research than any other organization, and nearly every CF drug available today was made possible because of Foundation support. Based in Bethesda, Md., the Foundation also supports and accredits a national care center network that has been recognized by the National Institutes of Health as a model of care for a chronic disease.
