On the Greg and Dan Show: Ambrose McCall Explains the Stakes as Epic Games Takes on Apple and Google

Hinshaw's Ambrose McCall recently joined the Greg and Dan Show to discuss a legal battle currently underway between Epic Games—the creator of Fortnite—and tech giants Apple and Google, both of which have officially banned Fortnite from their respective app stores. Apple also banned Epic from its developers' group. Epic in turn claims that Apple, which gets a 30% commission on all App Store purchases, is a monopoly. Although the scuffle appears to only impact gamers, as McCall explains, Epic is also involved in animation technology used for space flight, so this dispute has the potential to impact the public in other ways.
Since McCall's appearance on the show, a California judge declined to stop Apple from banning Epic and recommended the company comply with App Store guidelines while the case continues. Whether Apple's other actions taken against Epic are lawful—such as barring Epic from accessing Apple developer updates—remains to be seen.
