Hinshaw attorney Joanna Storey was recently profiled in an alumni feature published by the Liberal Arts and Management Program (LAMP) of Indiana University. In the feature, Joanna discussed how her telecommunications major helped build a foundation for a successful career in the law. She also talked about the importance of teamwork, and how Hinshaw has provided tools for professional and personal development.
A 1997 UI graduate, Joanna discussed how she was drawn to LAMP because of the opportunity it provided to learn business skills. She also discussed how her passion for story-telling—something she explored via filmography at UI—translated to her law practice:
"As it turns out, much of being a lawyer is developing and telling a story. The skills I learned in production provided a great foundation for my role as an attorney and educator."
Joanna praised Hinshaw for encouraging her to pursue her passion for teaching, writing, and client service. She also highlighted the bond of being part of a supportive and hard-working team:
"It really does take a village to be successful in law practice. Recognizing that each team member—no matter their title or position—had a role in your achievement is of paramount importance."
"LAMP Alum Joanna Storey – Lawyer, Mentor, Writer" was published by Indiana University LAMP Alumni Relations, February 9, 2021.
