Yvonne C. Ocrant, a partner in the firm's Chicago office, was profiled in a Chicago Lawyer article titled "The Living-the-Dream Team." Describing her as "the lawyer for horse-lovers," the article — published in the February 2015 issue of the magazine — details Ms. Ocrant's "booming equine law practice" and her passion for the equine industry as an attorney and active competitor in equestrian sports.
As mentioned in the article, Ms. Ocrant "has been riding horses since she was a child . . . [and] owns horses. . . She came into the industry as a 'horse person first,' . . . and the trust her clients place in her has helped grow her niche practice into something that takes up 85 percent of her time on the job."
The article also details "Ms. Ocrant’s innovative legal work that helped two American horse-and-rider teams compete in eventing at the 2012 London Olympics[,]" adding that "[s]he introduced the sport to a horse ownership structure common in more lucrative equine competition: syndication. . . . Since the Olympics, Ocrant has handled 64 syndications as of January [2015]."
Ms. Ocrant notes in the article, “[A]s a lawyer, I have the same passion for my industry and my clients, and I think that comes through in my representation.”
