Steve Puiszis—a Chicago-based partner at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP who also serves as the firm's General Counsel Privacy, Security and Compliance—presented at the 44th ABA National Conference on Professional Responsibility. His panel titled "Information Governance Part II – The Ethics of Data Breach Reaction," was recently featured in an article by Bloomberg Law titled "Lawyers Need Plan of Attack After a Cyber Attack."
The Bloomberg piece provides an overview of the presentation, including Puiszis' discussion of elements that should be included in an incident response plan. "Firms can't rely on just cybersecurity measures to protect them, because lawyers themselves are often to blame when hackers get through the gates," he said.
