Hinshaw partner Andrew Gordon was recently featured in the "Economic Backbone" section of the July 2022 edition of Florida Trend Magazine. Gordon reviewed some of the key drivers of changing workplace dynamics.
Gordon noted that post-pandemic workplace litigation is on the rise, including increased litigation over work arrangements for remote employees, employer-mandated vaccine requirements, and discrimination claims.
He also said many of his clients have called with questions about Florida's new "Stop the Wrongs to Our Kids and Employees Act."
"The Stop Woke Act has created confusion among employers who are cautious about workplace diversity training efforts and have slowed down or reduced their training efforts."
Gordon recommended that employers involve attorneys in preparing diversity training programs, noting it is "very possible" a program used in New York by a multi-state employer could get the employer in trouble in Florida.
