Nov 19, 2021
New York-based partner Ed Lenci will speak on diversity and inclusion in international arbitration at Dublin International Arbitration Day (DIAD) on November 19th. The New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) is sponsoring Ed's trip because he is Chair of NYSBA's International Section. Ed is Chair of the Reinsurance Section of Hinshaw's global Insurance Services Practice Group.
Ed advocates for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and advancing DEI is one of the three goals of his term as Chair of the International Section, which began on June 1st. See "Diversity and MOU’s: International Section Chair Shares His Global Vision," State Bar News, Summer 2021, Vol. 63, No. 2. As Co-Chair of the International Section's groundbreaking Global Conference in Tokyo in November 2019, Ed orchestrated the conference's emphasis on DEI and proposed the conference’s title, "A World of Many Voices, United in Our Diversity."
Ed has spoken several times at DIAD about arbitration in the insurance, reinsurance, and financial services sectors and was instrumental in the recent formation of ARIAS-Ireland, part of AIDA (Association International de Droit des Assurances). Ed serves as Co-Chair of ARIAS-U.S.'s International Committee. (ARIAS stands for AIDA Reinsurance and Insurance Arbitration Association).
