Partners Dustin Alonzo and Leslie Meredith will serve as panelists on November 20, 2025, at the Fall Conference of Consumer Finance Law (CCFL) in Fort Worth, Texas.
Leslie Meredith will co-present "Swipe Right for Scams: The Law vs. Electronic Payment Fraud." Her panel will provide updates on the latest legal and private rules governing claims related to electronic payment fraud, examining what is working, what is not, and what lies ahead under Regulation E, Article 4A, and related frameworks.
Dustin Alonzo will co-present a panel titled "What is Next After the Demise of the FTC's CARS Rule." Following the Fifth Circuit's decision to vacate the FTC’s CARS Rule in 2025, which would have imposed significant compliance burdens on auto dealers and finance companies, this discussion will explore state legislation and regulatory developments affecting these sectors, including updates on the California CARS Rule.
Dustin recently authored an article in the CCFL Quarterly Report, which also looked at the potential impact on automobile dealers after the Fifth Circuit set aside the FTC's CARS Rule.
Hinshaw attorneys Lauren Campisi, Peter Cubita, Michael Guerrero, Vaishali Rao, and Gregg Stevens serve on the Fall Conference Governing Committee.
