Peter Shakotko provides his clients with the knowledge and means to navigate their complex legal issues. Although his practice focuses on matters relating to the insurance industry, Peter also has experience with the banking and gaming industries. By being involved in all phases of litigation—from pre-trial investigatory work and discovery to deposition and interview preparation—Peter ensures his clients are informed every step of the way.

Professional Background

Prior to joining Hinshaw, Peter practiced at firms throughout Chicago, including three years at the headquarters of an international law firm. During his tenure, he handled international litigation matters involving products liability and banking compliance investigations. Peter was also a legal and analytics consultant for Fannie Mae.

During law school, Peter worked as an Antitrust Research Assistant. He also held a variety of clerk, extern and intern positions, including a role with a firm in Hanoi, Vietnam, where Peter worked for the Chief Arbitrator of the Vietnamese International Arbitration Committee.


Peter is an avid tennis player and golfer. He also enjoys cooking and finding just the right wine pairing.
