Representative Matters

Nicholas Bixler provides strategic counsel for a wide range of civil litigation cases. He primarily advises clients on insurance-related matters, including those involving admiralty and maritime law. Nick also works with companies and insurance carriers operating within the cannabis industry on matters of insurance and risk associated with regulatory compliance.

Nick's litigation background has provided him with invaluable experience in court and in mediation. Committed to ensuring his clients are informed throughout the process, Nick is involved in all phases of litigation, from the onset of the claim to its resolution.

Before joining Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, Nick furthered his insurance and litigation experience with mid-sized firms in Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, Florida.

During law school, Nick held a number of internships and clerkships. In addition to clerking for several boutique firms throughout Florida, he was an extern for the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission. During his tenure, he conducted investigations into compliance of Federal Securities law. Involved in a number of activities and associations, Nick was a member of the Fleming Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta, an academic fraternity, where he served as the Chapter President.

Representative Matters

  • Obtained a summary judgment for a carrier regarding the disposition of first party insurance claim. Ultimately, the court ruled the plaintiff's assignment of insurance benefits constituted an improper conveyance of homestead property and was thus invalid.

Nick was a collegiate student-athlete. He participated with University of Miami Basketball program as a practice player and, before that, was a member of the Men's Basketball Team at Edgewood College.

Outside of the office, you'll find him not only playing basketball, but also tennis, and perfecting his warrior two in yoga. He is also an avid reader of the Wall Street Journal.
