John Wittmer defends the interests of clients in litigation, focusing on product liability, as well as personal injury and property damage claims. His background in these areas includes assisting with issues concerning negligence and damage. John has also handled a wide range of defect-related matters, including those involving commercial shipping trailers and commercial and residential property construction.

With more than a decade of domestic and international corporate experience across a variety of industries—including transportation, banking, healthcare and entertainment—John has a deep understanding of business operations. Leveraging this knowledge and his experience in all phases of litigation, he helps clients manage and understand their risks.

Prior to joining Hinshaw, John practiced with a Minneapolis-based civil litigation firm. While there, he primarily represented clients in the areas of automotive law and general liability. John also gained invaluable experience through clerkships and externships, including serving as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Bruce A. Peterson in Hennepin County 4th Judicial District Court.

In addition to his other academic accomplishments, John completed courses to obtain a business law and civil law concentration. He was also involved in a number of activities and associations and activities, including the University of Minnesota Innocence Clinic and Civil Rights Moot Court, of which he was the Director.

In addition to enjoying domestic and international travel, John also spends his time taking in all Minnesota has to offer. He and his wife can often be found camping and hiking or fishing and kayaking on the lake.
