Jessica Johnson advises employers on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and provides counsel on complex employment matters. She represents employers before agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Illinois Department of Human Rights, in matters such as unlawful discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and failure to accommodate.

In addition to handling traditional labor and employment litigation, she provides counseling on workplace benefits, safety, restrictive covenants, and employee handbooks.

Jessica also represents regional and Fortune 500 financial institutions in commercial litigation claims involving tort, contract, and statutory violations involving complex commercial actions.

On behalf of individuals and medical institutions, she advises on healthcare industry-related regulations and compliance, and malpractice claims. Leveraging her background and experience navigating a variety of complex legal issues, she also defends their interests in litigation.

Before joining Hinshaw, Jessica was a licensed litigation law clerk with a personal injury firm. In her role, Jessica primarily assisted with cases involving workers' compensation and social security. As a licensed student during law school, she also provided legal assistance to homeless individuals with chronic illnesses and evaluated and summarized medical records to determine social security eligibility. Jessica also worked as a law clerk for a national insurance company, handling complex cases involving personal injury issues.

While pursuing her M.A. in Criminology, Jessica interned with the United States Department of Commerce. She provided research and analysis for cases and held a secret security clearance during her tenure. Jessica also worked for the State of Illinois' Department of Juvenile Justice.
