Laura McKinstry focuses her practice in insurance services with particular emphasis on insurance coverage matters. She handles all aspects of insurance coverage and recovery practice, including preparing coverage evaluations for property, environmental, products, and asbestos liabilities; conducting settlement negotiations with insolvent insurers; coverage litigation; and counseling clients as to complex insurance issues involving duties and obligations under various types of policies and likely case outcomes.

In addition to her insurance practice, Ms. Mckinstry has experience with municipal law and compliance responsibilities.

Professional Background

Prior to joining Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in October 2015, Ms. McKinstry was an associate at an insurance boutique firm in Chicago for five years. She also previously was a judicial extern to the Honorable Blanche Manning, U.S., District Court, Northern District of Illinois. In addition, Ms. McKinstry previously worked as a law clerk for another Chicago firm.

Ms. McKinstry's law school accomplishments include serving as a teaching assistant for Legal Writing for two years, having been a member of the Dean's List, and receiving CALI Awards for Legal Writing and Constitutional Law.
