Carmen Ontiveros has more than a decade of experience assisting attorneys in family and employment-based immigration law. Ms. Ontiveros assists individuals with obtaining permanent residency, and citizenship in the United States, and also works with employers in obtaining various work visas for their foreign employees. She has worked on and filed both I-140 and I-485 petitions, and prepares and manages H-1B, I-130, and I-140 petitions. Ms. Ontiveros also assists with the preparation and filing of Foreign Labor Certification Applications.

Ms. Ontiveros assists attorneys with all parts of the immigration process. She conducts legal research and is proficient in a number of software programs, including LawLogix and INSZoom. In addition to her Paralegal Certificate, Ms. Ontiveros holds a J.D., an accomplishment that gives her a unique view of the immigration process.

Professional Background

Prior to joining Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in October 2016, Ms. Ontiveros was an immigration paralegal at three other Chicago law firms. She also worked as the Director of Marketing & Development for a Catholic school in Chicago.

While she was in law school, Ms. Ontiveros served as Secretary of the Children and Family Law Society and was active in the Latino Law Student organization.
