Hinshaw Bolsters Commercial Transactions Practice with New Partner in Chicago
The national law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that Michael D. Weis has joined the firm as a partner at the firm's main office in Chicago. Weis joins the firm's Commercial Transactions practice group.
"We're thrilled to add a person of Michael's experience to our team," said Dean Parker, chair of the firm's Commercial Transactions Practice Group. "His work spans the corporate spectrum, and his approach to complex corporate, real estate and finance transactions will help our clients achieve their business objectives."
Weis has more than 30 years of experience as a business and commercial transactions attorney. He focuses his practice on a wide-range of commercial matters from mergers and acquisitions, securities and corporate governance to real estate and lending and estate planning and administration. He has handled the negotiation and closing of hundreds of complex corporate and commercial real estate transactions both domestically and internationally. He represents companies across a range of industries, including manufacturing, distribution, real estate, health care, food and beverage, technology and professional services.
Prior to joining Hinshaw, Weis practiced at other law firms in Illinois, including a Chicago-based firm where he served as chair of the business and transactional practice. He has also served as General Counsel for a long term care organization.
The addition of Weis follows several other recent additions to the firm of attorneys with transactional expertise. Aram Bloom joined the firm as a partner focused on health care transactions, licensing and regulatory compliance, and the regulatory and related due diligence involved in mergers and acquisitions of regulated entities. Blerta Mileti joined the firm as a former corporate in-house attorney with a Fortune 50 company, with a focus on business and commercial transactions.
Weis is a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Law (J.D., magna cum laude) and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (B.S. with high honors). He is admitted to practice in Illinois. A Certified Public Accountant, Weis is also a member of the Illinois CPA Society, as well as the American Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association.
