Aram Bloom and David Weinstein Discuss Proactive Strategies for Counseling Clients as Feds and State AGs Ramp Up Opioid Enforcement Efforts
Hinshaw partners Aram Bloom and David Weinstein co-authored an article in the Daily Business Review titled "Proactive Counsel in the Era of the Opioid Epidemic." In the article, Bloom and Weinstein discuss the impact of a recent crackdown by state attorneys general and the U.S. Department of Justice on higher-level participants involved in the manufacturing and distribution of opioid-based medications.
According to Bloom and Weinstein, attorneys who counsel clients—particularly health care and white collar criminal attorneys—must now broaden their scope of work and become more involved in everyday operations to ensure clients stay in compliance with their own policies. "Health care and business attorneys should strike the right balance between advising clients how to legally and responsibly maximize their profits, while at the same time assisting them in placing proper boundaries on their operations," they said.
