Joel Bertocchi Discusses Prospects of a Presidential Pardon for Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich on Fox 32 Chicago
Hinshaw's Joel Bertocchi, a Chicago-based partner and former federal prosecutor, spoke with Fox 32 Chicago TV reporter Larry Yellen about the likelihood of President Trump pardoning former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. The interview comes on the heels of the U.S. Supreme Court's refusal—for the second time in two years—to hear an appeal of Blagojevich's corruption convictions, which include wire fraud, extortion and soliciting bribes while he served as governor. The Supreme Court's choice also prompted Blagojevich's wife to ask Trump to pardon her husband.
While Bertocchi was not surprised by the Supreme Court's decision not to review the case, he said President Trump could still grant Blagojevich a pardon. "I think there is a good chance he will take some action… I can see a time served pardon," Bertocchi said.
