Hinshaw Partner Leo Lagomasino Appointed Chair of DRI’s Life, Health and Disability/ERISA Committee
Leonor (Leo) M. Lagomasino, a Miami-based partner in the Life, Health, Disability & ERISA Litigation Practice at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, has been appointed chair of DRI’s Life, Health and Disability/ERISA (LHD) Committee. She has since 2014 served as the LHD Committee's vice-chair and also has held the roles of program chair and membership chair.
Lagomasino represents many of the life, health and disability insurance industry's leading insurers. On their behalf, she defends against individual and ERISA claims and prosecutes rescission and agent-related claims. Lagomasino frequently speaks at national seminars on life, health and disability topics and is a contributing author on ERISA compendiums and a reinsurance/arbitration blog.
Lagomasino also represents banks, commercial real estate companies, commercial property owners in complex business litigation, leveraging her financial and tax accounting background to provide skilled representation. She helps these clients effectively and practically resolve disputes involving breach of fiduciary duty, lender liability, corporate dissolutions, leasehold disputes, breach of contract, appraisals of real property, bid irregularities, collections, and commercial real estate evictions and foreclosures.
Lagomasino earned her J.D. (1988) from the University of Florida College of Law and her B.B.A. (1983), cum laude, from Loyola University New Orleans.
