Hinshaw Welcomes Labor and Employment Attorney Brandon Takahashi As a Partner in Los Angeles
The U.S. law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that Brandon A. Takahashi has joined the firm's labor and employment group as a partner, residing in Hinshaw’s downtown Los Angeles office. Takahashi advises and counsels a wide range of private and public sector clients, and represents them in state and federal employment related-litigation. He has been involved in a number of key California employment cases.
Prior to joining Hinshaw, Takahashi served as head of the labor and employment group at ADLI Law Group in Los Angeles. He advises clients on employment-related issues including employee management, discipline and termination, internal investigations, leave management, employee classification and sexual harassment training. An experienced litigator, Takahashi has represented clients in claims and cases involving discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, Fair Employment and Housing Act retaliation, whistleblower retaliation and others.
Takahashi has represented clients in industries that include hospitality, retail, restaurant, banking and commerce, medical and medical device manufacturing, sports and software programming.
He represented the Regents of the University of California in a case of first impression involving interpretation and application of California Government Code section 12940(g) with respect to claims of employer retaliation following alleged reports of suspected patient abuse at medical facilities. He also assisted in the defense of a series of cases throughout California which addressed a split of authority between the Third and Fourth District Courts of Appeal regarding the continued viability of the judicial exhaustion defense for public entities.
Brandon Takahashi is a graduate of the McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific (J.D.) and the University of California, Davis (B.S.). He is admitted to practice in all state courts in California, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California. Additionally, Takahashi is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association and the Japanese American Bar Association.
