February 22, 2012

CHICAGO, IL. The national law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP announces that Nicholas S. Legatos has joined the Real Estate and Construction practice of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP. He will practice in the firm’s Chicago office.

L.J. Rotman, chair of Hinshaw’s 70-member Real Estate and Construction practice, said, “the addition of Nick furthers our group’s already substantial ability to assist builders, developers, lenders and others in the real estate industry with the full range of real estate and construction matters.”  He added, “having Nick on our team also bolsters our already significant capabilities to represent our clients nationally. The addition of Nick, following closely behind our group’s recent hires in South Florida of experienced real estate attorneys Steven Carlyle Cronig and Neil S. Rollnick, reflect Hinshaw’s efforts to continue to support our clients in all markets where they conduct business.”

“I am excited to be joining a firm with a real estate practice as broad and deep as Hinshaw’s. That was certainly a big reason for my interest in joining Hinshaw, as was the firm’s multidisciplinary practice supporting the group,” said Mr. Legatos. He added, “the firm’s desire to add to its real estate practice signaled to me a commitment to the practice and a demand-based need to add to it. I plan to add my skills in identifying and executing smart deals to that of my Hinshaw colleagues.”

Mr. Legatos has a national real estate practice and was previously with another Chicago-based law firm. He represents institutional, entrepreneurial and commercial developers in sophisticated commercial real estate transactions such as acquisitions, debt and equity financing, development, land use and leasing matters. Mr. Legatos also assists clients with joint venture structuring, drafting and due diligence in connection with multiproperty portfolios. His work had involved industrial, mixed-use, multifamily, office, retail and vacant properties. Mr. Legatos is especially experienced in handling retail developments involving malls, shopping centers, power centers and outlots.

Mr. Legatos earned his J.D. in 1998 from the University of Illinois College of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude.
