Tom McGarry to Speak at ALI Webcast on Lateral Movement for Lawyers
Thomas P. McGarry, a Chicago-based partner in the Lawyers for the Profession® group at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, will serve as a co-presenter for the webcast "Smart (Lateral) Moves: Ethical Concerns for Lawyers and the Firms They Leave or Join," hosted by the American Law Institute (ALI) on March 23, 2016 from 12:00–1:30 pm CST.
The speakers will examine the issues raised at each stage in the lateral movement process for both the law firms and the lawyers. The speakers will also address many questions lawyers face when leaving and joining a new firm such as when can a moving lawyer call clients and can the firm to be left behind forbid them from contacting with clients? Any lawyers considering changing firms, or any lawyer or legal professional responsible for staffing at their firm, will benefit from this program.
