HIPAA Webinar: General Changes to Privacy Practices

When is a patient's authorization required to use his or her protected health information (PHI) for marketing purposes?  The Omnibus Final Rule changed the answer to this question, expanding the definition of marketing to include certain treatment and health care operations communications. The sale, use or disclosure of PHI for marketing purposes is also one of several topics that must now be addressed in a covered entity's Notice of Privacy Practices (NPP). The Final Rule mandates other significant changes to NPPs, and how updated versions are to be distributed. The presenters will explain these new requirements and how to comply.
