Victoria Orze practices in the area of civil litigation defense, and concentrates her practice in the defense of legal malpractice actions, professional liability advice and defense, commercial litigation, consumer claims defense and insurance coverage advice and litigation (including professional liability claims made coverage). In addition, she advises private and governmental lawyers on ethical duties and professional responsibility.
Ms. Orze handles jury trials in state and federal courts throughout Arizona. She also appears in bankruptcy court, and handles appeals from all these jurisdictions.
Ms Orze is a past partner-in-charge of the Phoenix office.
Prior to joining Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in July 2002, Ms. Orze was Claims Manager and then General Counsel of Attorneys Liability Protection Society, Inc. (ALPS), A Risk Retention Group, in Montana. At ALPS, she was responsible for management of legal malpractice and employment practices claims, risk management and managing coverage litigation. As ALPS’ first general counsel, she handled the legal affairs of ALPS and its subsidiaries, and also led a team of professionals that demutualized the company. Before joining ALPS, Ms. Orze was engaged in private practice in Arizona.
In July 2009, Ms. Orze was appointed by the Arizona State Bar to its Rules of Professional Conduct Committee.
Ms. Orze is a member of the state bar associations of Arizona and Montana.
Ms. Orze’s publications include, “A Lawyer’s Guide to Professional Liability Insurance,” which appeared in the September 2006 issue of
Arizona Attorney. In addition, while at ALPS, Ms. Orze frequently authored case notes and risk management tips for ALPS' risk management publication, and contributed several more articles to the publication on the subject of risk management. She is also a contributing editor of Hinshaw newsletter,
The Lawyer’s Lawyer.
