Veteran Business Attorney David G. Asmus Joins St. Louis Office of National Law Firm Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP

St. Louis, June 8, 2005 Experienced corporate attorney David G. Asmus has joined the St. Louis office of national law firm Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP as a partner. He will lead the business transaction group for the St. Louis region offices of the firm.

“I needed a broader, deeper platform to better serve my national and regional financial services clients as well as my St. Louis-area business clients,” said Asmus, “and Hinshaw’s national business practice, which focuses on banking and financing, real estate law and commercial transactions will afford me this opportunity. We are very excited to be joining this nationally recognized law firm.” 

Asmus is joined by Ashley Narsutis who is moving to the St .Louis office of Hinshaw as an associate. They were formerly with Lashly & Baer, P.C., in St. Louis.

Mr. Asmus has focused his practice on bankruptcy/ reorganizations, commercial transactions, banking and financial services, and commercial real estate law for more than 25 years. He has served as in-house corporate counsel to banking institutions, such as Citicorp/Citibank, and as outside counsel to a number of other financial institutions.

Mr. Asmus represents national, regional and local banks; financial services companies; mortgage banking and brokerage companies.

Mr. Asmus serves as lender’s counsel in a variety of commercial and real estate financing transactions, with a particular emphasis on Uniform Commercial Code Article 9, which covers secured lending and bankruptcy/reorganizations. He has been admitted in numerous federal bankruptcy courts across the country to represent secured creditor interests and prosecute their various claims in both business reorganizations and Chapter 7 liquidations. He has also counseled companies and ownership interests on reorganizations of businesses, and served as debtor's counsel for the only successful Chapter 11 reorganization in the Eastern District of Missouri in 1997-98.

Mr. Asmus has participated in numerous transactions involving corporations and partnerships regarding mergers and asset sales; the financing of conventional offerings; and providing counsel and advice on the restructuring, reorganization and liquidation of businesses for creditor clients. He represents national financial institutions before state regulatory agencies throughout the United States, and has been consulted by state and industry representatives on issues pertaining to the chartering and licensing of financial institutions.

Mr. Asmus has advised a number of for-profit and not-for-profit enterprises and businesses in a variety of manufacturing, educational and service industries on contract negotiations for commercial relationships, organizational formation, financing, real estate, commercial leases, mergers and acquisitions, reorganization and liquidation.

Mr. Asmus is respected for his significant service to the community. A representative sampling of his service includes the following: Member, Chesterfield Planning & Zoning Commission, since 2004; and Chair, Government Affairs Committee of the Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce, where he sat on the Board of Directors from 2001 to 2004. In 2003 he received the Chamber’s Taskmaster Award for Service. He is also: Member, Board of Directors, Chesterfield Arts Commission since 2004; Member, Board of Directors, Chesterfield Heritage Foundation since 2004; Member, Board of Directors, Lewis & Clark Institute; Member, Alzheimer’s Association, since 1999; Special Counsel, Boys Hope / Girls Hope National, headquartered in St. Louis.
