Timothy Newlin focuses his practice in the defense of workers' compensation claims. He is also active in the defense of medical malpractice and legal malpractice claims.
Mr. Newlin's major clients include Dollar General and OSF Healthcare System, including OSF St. Francis, OSF St. James, OSF St. Joseph and OSF St. Mary's hospitals. In addition, he handles the defense of State Farm and American Family insureds in automobile negligence cases.
Mr. Newlin has been practicing litigation and business law since 1978. Prior to joining Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in 2003, Mr. Newlin was an associate with the Law Office of Frederic W. Nessler, where he practiced in the areas of real estate, workers' compensation, products liability, probate, toxic torts, creditors rights and insurance claims defense.
In April 2011, Mr. Newlin was appointed to the position of Peoria County Public Administrator/Public Guardian by Illinois Governor Pat Quinn and confirmed by the Illinois State Senate.
Mr. Newlin is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Peoria County Bar Association and the Central Illinois Estate Planning Council. He is a member of the Illinois Supreme Court Committee on Character and Fitness for Illinois Board of Admissions to the Bar. He is also an American Inns of Court Barrister and served as president for the Greater Peoria Claims Association (1991).
Mr. Newlin is a member of the Leading Lawyers Network, where he was selected by his peers as a Leading Lawyer in the areas of Personal Injury Defense Law: General and Workers’ Compensation Defense Law. In addition, he has been rated by Martindale-Hubbell for ethics and legal ability.

Mr. Newlin participates in numerous community activities, including acting as the former president for a Neighborhood Watch Group. He is a member of the Autism Advocacy Group, the Peoria Christian Business Committee, the Peoria Girl's Sports League and the Peoria Youth Boy's Basketball League.
He is a Lutheran Ministries Board Member, as well as a past member of the South Side Mission Board and the Peoria Leadership Prayer Breakfast.
