In fiscal year 2002, Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP earned $3.24 million from Illinois government legal service contracts, performing work for 11 different state agencies. For the second year in a row, this earned the firm the number one ranking for bringing in the highest amount of state funds for legal work out of all Illinois law firms. In all, Hinshaw earned $3,237,524 out of a total state expenditure of $28 million for outside legal services.
Part of Hinshaw’s substantial legal service for the state came from a shared contract with the Department on Aging and the departments of Human Services and Public Aid. Among other services provided, Hinshaw attorneys served as administrative law judges in long term care nursing home cases on behalf of the Department of Public Health. Hinshaw also contracted with the Office of the State’s Attorney’s Appellate Prosecutor, which more than doubled its contracted work in fiscal year 2002. In addition, Hinshaw secured a contract with the Illinois Department of Employment Security for representing employers from small businesses in unemployment benefits matters. |
