Stars Rising in Minnesota

January 1, 2007 — Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP attorneys, Heather L. Marx, Jamie R. Pierce, Kristi Adair Zentner and Joel Nesset have been named as a 2008 Minnesota “Rising Star” by Minnesota Rising Stars 2008. All are attorneys in  Hinshaw's Minneapolis, Minnesota office.

Heather Marx was named a “Rising Star” in the area of General Litigation. She represents a variety of business clients, including corporations and individuals, as well as a number of banks in legal matters requiring complex business and commercial litigation. Ms. Marx is involved in all aspects of litigation, from initial pleadings, through discovery, motion practice, negotiated resolution, and trial.

Jamie Pierce was named a “Rising Star” in the area of Bankruptcy & Creditor/Debtor Rights. He works with troubled businesses, helping them find solutions to their financial challenges. He particularly emphasizes bankruptcy work in addition to real estate, civil litigation and general practice. Mr. Pierce has filed a substantial number of Chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcies, and has been directly involved with seven Chapter 11 bankruptcies, four of which he confirmed. He has represented creditors in motions for relief from stay, denial of discharge actions, nondischargeability actions and motions to dismiss both Chapter 13 and Chapter 11 cases. Mr. Pierce also assists individuals with financial problems, including seeking protection for them in bankruptcy.

Kristi Zentner was named a “Rising Star” in the area of Business/Corporate law. She is a transactional attorney who represents clients in general business, real estate and commercial lending transactions, as well as employment, e-commerce and intellectual property law matters. In the business and corporate law area, Ms. Zentner assists clients in their choice of entity considerations and entity formations. She also handles mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations and the preparation of various types of business agreements.

Joel Nesset represents financially troubled businesses and creditors, both in and out of bankruptcy, including companies such as M.A. Gedney Company, Octeon Corp., creditors’ committees in Chapter 11 cases filed by Mr. Movies, Stockwalk Group, Inc. and one of the unions involved in the Mesaba Aviation Chapter 11.

He represents financially troubled businesses and creditors, both in and out of bankruptcy, including companies such as M.A. Gedney Company, Octeon Corp., creditors’ committees in Chapter 11 cases filed by Mr. Movies, Stockwalk Group, Inc. and one of the unions involved in the Mesaba Aviation Chapter 11. Mr. Nesset also represents clients in various transactional matters, including asset sales, financing and leasing.
