Employment decisions should be made after considering the facts and applicable laws, otherwise an employer risks exposure to claims on what may seem to be straightforward discipline, termination or other employment actions. An employer quickly may find itself on the receiving end of an attorney demand letter, charge of discrimination, or federal or state court complaint. Some employers make these decisions without the benefit of counsel, whether that be due to cost, lack of employment counsel, or the assumption that their decision perhaps has no risk. But what if your company could greatly reduce the risk of such claims before they ever were made?

The Labor & Employment Group of the Chicago office of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is offering the Employer Assist Program to help do just that. Our program is for human resources professionals, in-house counsel, or even the multiple-hat wearing manager, all of whom may be involved in employment decisions. Given breadth of our experience, we are positioned to offer an employment counseling program that will assist in assessing options, weighing risks, and making informed employment decisions that are compliant with employment laws and consistent with your company policies.

For a monthly fee of $2,250.00, your designated representative(s) may contact any of the six (6) partners listed on this page for telephone advice and counseling. It may be a series of calls about one particular employee issue or many calls on different EAP-covered topics. You will not need to watch the clock because these calls are included in the flat fee. We will issue a written engagement letter that will further describe the program and the monthly retainer of $2,250.00. We will jointly re-evaluate after three (3) months to make sure that this is a mutually beneficial program.

Hinshaw's EAP provides a full range of employment law advice and counseling services, prior to the filing of a lawsuit or an administrative charge or claim. It does not include matters relating to the defense of such charges or claims nor does it cover employee benefits, tax and mass-layoffs. We are happy to provide additional legal services at a competitive rate or alternative fee plan for matters not covered by this program. The goal of the EAP is to provide your company consistent, reliable advice in the administration of your employment policies at a reasonable, fixed price.

Please feel free to call the EAP Team contact, or any of the six EAP Team members to discuss the program in more detail.
