FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. ― Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP today announced the addition of partner
Michael D. Seese to its
Ft. Lauderdale office and
bankruptcy & creditors rights practice.
Mr. Seese joins Hinshaw from Kluger Peretz Kaplan & Berlin, P.L., in Miami, where he co-founded the Distressed Asset Group, and served as co-chair of its bankruptcy practice.

Mr. Seese represents debtors, lenders and other involved parties in proceedings under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code and out-of-court workouts. He also represents purchasers in acquiring assets and businesses out of bankruptcy proceedings.
He has extensive litigation experience, having served as lead counsel in prosecuting or defending more than 700 adversary proceedings. Among these cases, he has served as lead counsel on behalf of the seller/debtor in the contested sale of the assets of a billion-dollar producer of steel and tin mill products; and as counsel to a large international air carrier in its successful reorganization. He also represented the official committee of unsecured creditors in a case involving one of the largest producers of aluminum in North America.
Prior to his previous role as a partner with Kluger Peretz Kaplan & Berlin, Mr. Seese was also a partner at McGuireWoods, LLP in its Pittsburgh office and at Bilzin, Sumberg, Baena, Price & Axelrod, LLP in Miami.
His list of professional accolades is lengthy, from being named to the
Super Lawyers list by
Florida Super Lawyers magazine annually since 2006, to one of
Florida Trend magazine’s “Florida Legal Elite” in 2007 and 2009, and also in
Florida Trend’s Corporate Counsel edition in 2009.
