Renee Mortimer Elected Fellow in Litigation Counsel of America

December 8, 2009
SCHERERVILLE, Ind.— Renee J. Mortimer, a partner in the Schererville, Indiana, office of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, has been elected a fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America (LCA). Fellows to the LCA, a trial lawyer honorary society, are invited based upon effectiveness and accomplishment in litigation and superior ethical reputation.

Membership in the LCA is limited, representing less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers. Including Ms. Mortimer, only 67 lawyers in the state of Indiana are fellows in the national organization.

Fellows in the LCA are generally at the partner or shareholder level or are independent practitioners with several years experience. They may also include judges, professors of law, governmental attorneys and in-house counsel. The organization’s purpose is to recognize deserving, experienced, and highly qualified lawyers, to provide an additional outlet for scholarly authorship of legal articles on trial and litigation practice, to provide additional sources for professional development, to promote superior advocacy and ethical standards in the practice of law, and to assist in community involvement by its membership.

Ms. Mortimer is both partner-in-charge of Hinshaw’s sole Indiana office and co-chair of the firm’s transportation specialty group. Her defense litigation practice places particular emphasis on trucking and heavy vehicle litigation. She also handles medical malpractice, general liability, products liability, municipal liability ERISA benefits, and UCC litigation. Ms. Mortimer is a national counsel for the American National Red Cross (ANRC), handling general liability, personal injury and property damage litigation for the organization.
