Peter A. Walsh
Peter Walsh is an experienced trial lawyer who has practiced and litigated for the past 29 years. His practice involves the defense of professional malpractice claims for attorneys, hospitals, other health care institutions, physicians, psychiatrists, chiropractors, nurses, dentists, therapists and a variety of other medical professionals.
Mr. Walsh’s litigation practice includes commercial litigation, construction litigation, HMO vicarious liability and fraud claims, employment law, general tort defense, premises liability, products liability, railroad, trucking and other transportation claims.
Mr. Walsh represents clients in varying industries including medical and legal professionals, construction contractors and design professionals, managed care entities, hospitals, retailers, manufacturers, entrepreneurs, insurers and individuals.
Mr. Walsh joined Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in May 1983. He is a past co-leader of the firm’s Transportation Practice Group. He has been recognized by his peers as a Leading Lawyer in the categories of Personal Injury Defense Law: General, and Products Liability Defense Law. Mr. Walsh was included on the Super Lawyers list in the area of Personal Injury Defense: Medical Malpractice, by Illinois Super Lawyers magazine.
At various times, Mr. Walsh has been a member of the American Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, Illinois State Bar Association, the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel and the Trial Lawyers Club of Chicago.
Mr. Walsh is active in his community. In 2007, he received the Alderman Eugene Schulter Community Service Award, and in 2008, he received the First Slice Volunteer of the Year Award for his work raising funds for a commercial kitchen operated by a non-profit organization that feeds homeless children in Chicago.
Mr. Walsh is a founder and director of Northside Basketball Leagues. Since 2007 he has worked with 600 boys and girls in third through eighth grade from 35 schools in Chicago.
In his spare time, Peter enjoys playing the trumpet. His hobbies include physical fitness.
