Paulette Sarp is a litigator with a broad range of experience in both state and federal courts. She devotes a large portion of her practice to the insurance industry, representing insurance companies in breach of contract and bad faith claims arising out of health, life, disability, property and casualty policies.
In addition, Ms. Sarp handles ERISA claim litigation and insurance coverage issues. Her representative opinions include:
- Metropolitan Property & Casualty Ins. Co. v. Koehnen, 2006 WL 3719715 (Minn. App.).
- Cretens v. State Farm Fire & Cas. Co., 60 F.Supp.2d 987 (D.Ariz. 1999) affirmed by the Ninth Circuit.
- K.B. v. State Farm Fire & Cas. Co., 189 Ariz. 263, 941 P.2d 1288 (Ct. App. 1997).
Ms. Sarp joined Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in September 2007.
She began her legal career in 1989 as an associate at Fennemore Craig, P.C., in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1993, she joined the boutique firm of Peshkin & Kotalik, P.C., in Phoenix, where she focused her practice on insurance related issues and commercial litigation. Ms. Sarp was a partner at Peshkin & Kotalik until 2005, at which time she moved to Minneapolis and practiced with Lind, Jensen, Sullivan & Peterson for two years before joining Hinshaw.
Ms. Sarp’s professional memberships include the American Bar Association and the Minnesota Defense Lawyers Association. She holds the AV® Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, its highest rating for ethics and legal ability.

Ms. Sarp has been involved with the East Metro Women’s Counsel, an organization dedicated to transitioning homeless families to permanent housing in the Twin Cities area.
