Don Mrozek Article in Bloomberg BNA Big Law Business Addresses Bullying in Law Firms

October 26, 2016

Don Mrozek — who leads the Consultants and Coaches for the Profession® Practice at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP — authored the article "How to Respond to Bullying in Big Law," which was published on the Bloomberg BNA Big Law Business website on October 25, 2016. The article comes on the heels of a recently released survey of law firm leaders conducted by legal industry consultants Patrick McKenna and David Parnell that found that 93 percent of respondents of 124 law firms admitted that instances of bullying have occurred at their firms.

In his article, Mrozek described some of his experience handling bullies while serving as Hinshaw's chairman from 1989–2015. He then detailed several policies and practices — proactive and otherwise — that all law firms can adopt to effectively address the phenomenon. Remarked Mrozek, "[I]t is the duty of all law firm leaders to address this cancer — which affects not only the particular firm but also the legal profession as a whole — head on."
