Avanti D. Bakane Named 2014 President Elect of Indian-American Bar Association of Chicago

The national law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP announced today that Avanti D. Bakane was elected President Elect of the Indian-American Bar Association of Chicago (IABA). IABA Chicago was established in 2000 to promote professional development of the South Asian legal community in the Chicago area.

Ms. Bakane has demonstrated her commitment to the organization by serving three previous terms with the organization. In 2011 and 2012, she held the position of Vice-President of Membership and in 2013 she served as Vice-President of Events.

Ms. Bakane represents clients in commercial litigation, professional liability defense, class actions and consumer litigation and is involved in all phases of trial preparation and litigation, including discovery, research, preparing motions and various memoranda. She is also proficient in Spanish and Marathi and is a graduate of DePaul University College of Law.

Along with her work at Hinshaw and the IABA of Chicago, Ms. Bakane is an active member in the Chicago law community. She is affiliated with the Chicago Bar Association and Women's Bar Association of Illinois. She also is a volunteer for First Defense Legal Aid, Cause for Paws, and for the Lawyers in the Classroom Program.
