Insurance Litigation Attorney Michele A. Vargas Appointed HNBA Deputy Regional President for Region VIII

Miami — Michele A. Vargas, an Associate in the Coral Gables office of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, has been appointed as the Hispanic National Bar Association’s Deputy Regional President for Region VIII. The HNBA is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, national membership organization that represents the interests of Hispanic legal professionals in the United States and its territories and advocates on issues of importance to Hispanics in the U.S.

Vargas is an insurance litigator who focuses her practice on insurance coverage and defense litigation that often involves million-dollar policies in a variety of areas, including commercial general liability, director and officer liability, and excess liability, as well as other personal lines. She is the Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force Director for the HNBA and was formerly the Regional Deputy President of External Affairs. Vargas received both her Juris Doctor and her B.A. in Political Science and Psychology from St. Thomas University in Miami.

She is admitted in Florida, including the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and all three federal district courts in Florida.

Active in the community, Vargas recently held the HNBA 4th Annual Anti-Human Trafficking Conference attended by local and state representatives, nonprofits, Florida law schools, the DOJ and I.C.E. Vargas is currently spearheading a voting rights project for Region VIII for the upcoming presidential elections. From 2008 to 2012, she volunteered for Lawyers for Children of America, including the pro bono representation of abused and abandoned children in dependency court. In 2011 and 2010, she was the recipient of the William Reece Smith, Jr. Pro Bono Award for her 200 hours of volunteer service.
