Matthew O'Hara Quoted in Miami Herald Article on Guantanamo Captives

January 11, 2010

Chicago — Matthew J. O'Hara, a Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP partner was quoted in a January 11, 2010, Miami Herald article titled "Images Provide Intimate Look at Guantanamo Captives."

The article discusses the photo portraits that were taken by the Red Cross and released in 2009 of prisoners at the Guantanamo Naval Base. The photos of the detainees, intended for family members, give an intimate look of the detainees — an unintended outcome of an agreement between the Red Cross and Defense Department to let the men send photos home.

Palestinian Walid Hijazi, Mr. O'Hara's client and a detainee cleared for transfer, posed for one of the photos. "They are nice photos of him,'' says O'Hara. "They made his family very happy.''
