Veteran labor and employment attorney Thomas Y. Mandler has joined the Chicago office of national law firm Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP as a partner. Mandler will add depth and experience to Hinshaw’s nationally renowned labor and employment practice group. Prior to joining Hinshaw, he was a partner with the law firm of Quarles & Brady.

Specifically, Mandler concentrates his practice in corporate and management labor and employment law, including representation of employers in collective bargaining, grievance and arbitration proceedings, strikes and injunctions, issues before the National Labor Relations Board, governmental agencies enforcing equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, and occupational safety and health laws. He focuses on matters relating to employees, whether they are represented by a union, employed pursuant to a written employment agreement, or employed "at-will."
Mandler is active in many civic affairs. He served for 12 years as a member of the Board of Education of Township High School District 113, of which he was President from 1996 to 1997, and 2000 to 2003. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education for 13 years, was a member of the Executive Committee for eight years, and was Chairman from 1993 to 1994. In 2000, Mandler received the Addis E. Hull Award of Excellence from the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education.
Mandler is a prolific speaker on labor and employment-related issues to clients and organizations such as the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education, the American Arbitration Association, the American Management Association, the Illinois CPA Society and the Chicago Medical Society.
