Nancy L. Cardinale
Nancy Cardinale focuses her practice primarily on professional liability defense, with particular emphasis on representing physicians and hospitals in complex medical negligence actions. She also represents nursing homes and other independent health professionals.
Ms. Cardinale handles all aspects of litigation, from case development through trial, and has first-chaired two cases to verdict. She has participated in more than 10 mediations and authored three appellate briefs that resulted in the affirmation of dismissal or summary judgment.
A portion of Ms. Cardinale’s practice is devoted to the representation of small business owners in a variety of contractual and real estate disputes.
Ms. Cardinale joined Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in July 2007. Previously she was a senior associate at Sandberg, Phoenix & von Gontard, P.C., and in 1999, she was an associate at Evans and Dixon P.C. Ms. Cardinale began her legal career in public service, spending two years as an assistant attorney general with the Missouri Attorney General’s Office in Jefferson City, Missouri.
Ms. Cardinale is a member of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy and completed their “Building Trial Skills” seminar in January 2003. Her professional memberships also include the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and the Illinois State Bar Association.
She speaks French fluently.

Ms. Cardinale directed the United Way fund drive and managed participation in Project Angel Tree while at her former firm. She has volunteered with Big Brothers/Big Sisters and The Literacy Council in the past.
