Miele Joins Insurance Practice in Ft. Lauderdale

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. ― The national law firm Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP announced today that Joseph R. Miele Jr. has joined its Ft. Lauderdale office as a partner in the Insurance Services Practice Group.

Mr. Miele represents insurers in all aspects of complex insurance coverage and bad faith litigation. He has a broad range of experience in coverage and liability matters involving construction defects, environmental and toxic torts, directors’ and officers’ liability and intellectual property. He also has substantial experience in litigation surrounding defective Chinese drywall claims, including coverage issues under first party property and third party liability policies.

Mr. Miele previously served as a partner and chair of the Florida Coverage Practice Group at Marshall, Dennehy, Warner, Coleman & Goggin in Ft. Lauderdale.

Hinshaw’s Insurance Services Practice Group is comprised of 70 attorneys who have gained recognition across the United States in the course of representing a client base that ranges from the largest property and casualty companies to the smallest captives. The practice is national in scope, with many in the group serving as regional and national litigation counsel to insurer clients.

Mr. Miele represents many primary and excess insurers against both Fortune 500 companies and individuals. He has handled hundreds of cases in Florida, New York and New Jersey, and successfully resolved multimillion-dollar coverage and bad faith actions through dispute of coverage and defense of his clients’ claim handling practices.

Before entering private practice in 1993, Mr. Miele began his legal career as litigation counsel at American International Adjustment/AIG in New York. He is admitted to practice in Florida, New York, New Jersey and the District of Columbia and is a member of The Florida Bar and the District of Columbia Bar Association.

Mr. Miele holds a J.D. from New York Law School (1991) and a B.S. from Seton Hall University (1987).
