Matthew J. Canna

Practice Focus
Matthew Canna focuses his litigation practice in the areas of tort and intellectual property law, with particular emphasis in toxic tort, patent infringement and construction site claims. He defends various industrial product and equipment manufacturers, contracts and premises owners in toxic tort personal injury claims. Mr. Canna also advises clients regarding patent infringement claims and is licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Mr. Canna handles all phases of litigation, including conducting depositions, working with expert witnesses and drafting legal motions, memoranda and pleadings.
Professional Background
Mr. Canna joined Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in September 2003. Previously he was summer associate with the firm in 2002, and clerked at the firm in 2002 and 2001. Mr. Canna was also a summer staff associate with Professional National Title Network.

During law school, he was a member of the Intellectual Property Law Society. During his undergraduate studies, Mr. Canna participated in the London Engineering Summer Program.
Community Service Activities
Mr. Canna has served as a teacher's aide at Elim School, where he assisted in classrooms for mentally and physically handicapped students. He was also the assistant coach for girls' volleyball and basketball.
