Marka Belinfanti
Marka Belinfanti has a broad-based general litigation practice, with an emphasis in handling consumer and class action litigation. She also practices in the areas of professional liability defense, discrimination lawsuits and toxic tort matters before state and federal courts.
She is engaged in all phases of litigation, including conducting discovery, drafting motions and preparing for trial.
Ms. Belinfanti joined Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in October 2009. Previously she was an associate at a civil litigation firm where she handled toxic tort, professional malpractice and discrimination lawsuits.
From 2006 to 2008 Ms. Belinfanti was a staff attorney with The Legal Aid Society, representing low-income tenants in housing court proceedings.
Ms. Belinfanti served a series of internships while in law school. In 2004, she was a legal intern for the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund. During the summer of 2005, she was a legal intern to the Honorable George B. Daniels, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York. In 2005 she was a legal intern at Community Economic Development Law Clinic.
In addition to her other law school achievements, Ms. Belinfanti participated in the Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition and was a member of the Black Law Students Association.
During her undergraduate studies, Ms. Belinfanti received the Lennox Prize for academic excellence in Africana Studies. In addition, she was the recipient of a Mellon Undergraduate Fellowship.
She is a member of the New York State Bar Association.
