Mandler a Fellow of College of Labor and Employment Lawyers

CHICAGO ― Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that the Governors of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers have elected Capital Partner Thomas Y. Mandler as a new Fellow of the College.

The highest of peer recognitions in labor and employment law, Fellows are named for their sustained outstanding performance in the profession, exemplifying integrity, dedication and excellence, according to the College. Fellows are dedicated to the study and enhancement of professional ethics in the practice of labor and employment law and to the improvement of the delivery and quality of labor and employment legal services.

The 14th installation of the Fellows will be held on November 7, 2009, in Washington, D.C., coinciding with the American Bar Association’s Labor & Employment Law Section’s Continuing Legal Education Conference. Over 1,000 members currently represent the College across 43 states, the District of Colombia, Puerto Rico and Canada.

A member of Hinshaw’s Executive Committee, Thomas Mandler has for more than 35 years focused his practice on advising management on all types of labor and employment law matters. He represents both private and public sector employers on a nationwide basis in collective bargaining, grievance and arbitration proceedings, strikes and injunctions. Mr. Mandler counsels large and small employers that are engaged in all types of businesses regarding the full range of employment law issues that may arise during the hiring, evaluating, disciplining, and discharging of employees. He also devotes a substantial part of his practice to proactive training of clients' supervisors, in an attempt to prevent or minimize costly legal problems.

Among his many accolades, he was named one of the “Top One Hundred Labor Attorneys in the United States” by the Labor Relations Institute in both 2006 and 2007, an honor that places him in the top one percent of labor attorneys in the country. Also, since 2005, Mr. Mandler has been named annually to the Super Lawyers list in the area of Employment & Labor, by Illinois Super Lawyers magazine. He received his J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1971, and his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin in1968.

The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, headquartered in Washington, D.C., was founded in 1995 on the 60th anniversary of the National Labor Relations Board and the 30th anniversary of Title VII and Executive Order 11246.  It is a non-profit professional association honoring the leading lawyers nationwide in the practice of labor and employment law.
