Lora Zimmer focuses her practice in health care law and insurance services. She is part of a group of attorneys within the firm dedicated to studying and dealing with issues that affect health care providers. Ms. Zimmer represents hospitals, physicians, clinics, chiropractors and dentists in malpractice claims, compliance complaints, contract disputes and other matters. She is experienced in negotiating managed care contracts, interpreting and negotiating employment contracts and crafting compliance policies for health care clients.
Ms. Zimmer also has experience in analyzing insurance policies and in drafting and interpreting other types of contracts. She has provided clients with coverage opinions in cases involving pollution, construction defects, advertising injuries and other issues. She has litigated insurance coverage disputes both at the circuit court and appellate levels.
Ms. Zimmer handles both civil and criminal litigation and has tried both bench and jury trials. Additionally, she has prepared and argued motions, drafted legal briefs and negotiated settlements in hundreds of cases.
Ms. Zimmer has successfully briefed matters before the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, including issues involving insurance coverage and HIPAA claims. Her appellate decisions include:

Ms. Zimmer joined Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in February 2005 after having served the local community as Assistant District Attorney with the Outagamie County District Attorney's Office.
She is a member of the Defense Research Institute, Outagamie County Bar Association, American Health Lawyers Association and the Health Law Section of the Wisconsin Bar Association. Ms. Zimmer has been rated by Martindale-Hubbell for ethics and legal ability.
Ms. Zimmer is the author of a number of firm Health Care Alerts and Practice Tips on assorted topics, including EMTALA, ERISA and HIPAA. Her presentations include:

Ms. Zimmer has judged and coached high school mock trial teams and volunteers for the Fox Valley Humane Association.
While in law school she was a volunteer for the Temporary Restraining Order Project. She has also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity.
Lora lives in her hometown of Appleton, Wisconsin, with her husband and their dog and two cats. She enjoys vegetarian cooking, organic gardening and reading good books.
