Linda K. Horras

Practice Focus
Linda Horras practices exclusively in the defense of employment and labor matters. She routinely represents employers in federal and state courts and at all administrative levels of such regulatory agencies as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Illinois Department of Human Rights, Human Rights Commission and Illinois Department of Labor. She has also handled appeals to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and has litigated employment discrimination disputes, employment contract disputes, retaliatory discharge claims, and breach of fiduciary duty suits in federal and state courts. She has defended employers in Fair Labor Standards Act cases, including collective actions.

In addition to her litigation practice, Ms. Horras advises and counsels employers on such specific employee relations issues as discipline, discharge and reasonable accommodation of disabilities. She has drafted employment policies and procedures for employers. She has also participated in training sessions for clients on sexual harassment awareness and prevention, and conducts investigations into harassment claims.
Professional Background
Ms. Horras joined Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in April 1989.

As a former Adjunct Professor at the John Marshall Law School, Ms. Horras taught classes that covered advocacy writing and introductions to computer research. She is a member of the Labor & Employee Committee of the Chicago Bar Association.

Ms. Horras is the author of “A New Acronym for Trucking and Delivery Companies: The FLSA,” published in the Summer 2009 edition of DRI in Transit, a publication of the Defense Research Institute. She routinely contributes to Hinshaw’s monthly employment newsletter and blogs.
