Kuzmanovic Elected to Litigation Counsel of America

June 16, 2008

CHICAGO ― Tomislav Z. Kuzmanovic, a partner in the Milwaukee office of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, has been elected a fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America (LCA). Fellows to the LCA, a trial lawyer honorary society, are invited based upon effectiveness and accomplishment in litigation and superior ethical reputation.

Membership in the LCA is limited, representing less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers. Including Mr. Kuzmanovic, only 23 lawyers in the state of Wisconsin are fellows in the national organization.

Members of the LCA are either trial lawyers or general counsel. The organization’s purpose is to recognize deserving, experienced, and highly qualified lawyers, to provide an additional outlet for scholarly authorship of legal articles on trial and litigation practice, to provide additional sources for professional development, to promote superior advocacy and ethical standards in the practice of law, and to assist in community involvement by its membership.

Mr. Kuzmanovic practices in the area of litigation, with an emphasis on commercial litigation, complex litigation, construction liability, premises liability, product liability, toxic torts, transportation law, and international and human rights law. In November 2007, he was named for the third time a “Super Lawyer” in the area of Business Litigation by Wisconsin Super Lawyers and Rising Stars 2007 magazine.

Currently, Mr. Kuzmanovic is in The Hague, representing Croatian General Mladen Markac in a trial before the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY). Mr. Markac has been charged with crimes committed during the “Operation Storm” military offensive in Croatia, which lasted from August 4, 1995 to November 15, 1995. Kuzmanovic, who was awarded the Order of the Croatian “Pleter” by former Croatian President Franjo Tudjman for his contributions toward Croatia’s independence, has already successfully defended two defendants before the ICTY.
