Jason Winslow focuses his practice in the defense and litigation of professional negligence lawsuits, with particular emphasis on claims of medical malpractice in the Southern Illinois venues of St. Clair and Madison Counties. Mr. Winslow has experience in all phases of litigation, including discovery, motion practice and trial. He has achieved successful results on behalf of many hospitals, doctors, and other health care providers in Southern Illinois.
Mr. Winslow also represents municipalities in ensuring that day-to-day operations comply with various state laws, such as the Illinois Municipal Code, the Open Meetings Act and the Freedom of Information Act. In addition to drafting and negotiating contracts on behalf of municipalities, Mr. Winslow also advises municipalities in the areas of public finance, property taxation, election law, law enforcement and constitutional law. A graduate of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, a portion of Mr. Winslow’s municipal work focuses on various real estate, land use, and planning issues.
Mr. Winslow joined Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in November 2009. Previously, for more than two years he served as a law clerk to the Honorable William D. Stiehl, U.S. District Court, Southern District of Illinois. In this role, Mr. Winslow participated in all phases of civil litigation in federal court, including the dispositive motion and trial phases of litigation.
During law school, Mr. Winslow was Editor-in-Chief of the George Mason University School of Law’s
Federal Circuit Bar Journal, a legal journal featuring scholarly articles submitted by judges, law professors and attorneys practicing before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Mr. Winslow managed a team of more than 40 of his peers, who served as editors and staff members of the
Journal. In addition to his other law school accomplishments, Mr. Winslow was a member of the Moot Court Board and the Trial Advocacy National Team, and he was selected to be a Writing Fellow. Mr. Winslow also served as a legal intern with Rolls-Royce North America, Inc., in Reston, Virginia, and as a summer associate with Rabbitt, Pitzer, & Snodgrass, P.C., in St. Louis, Missouri.
Mr. Winslow is a member of the St. Clair County Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.

A former all-state tennis player and captain of the Belleville Township High School East tennis team (1999-2000), Jason also enjoys playing basketball and golf.
