Judith Parker focuses her practice in the areas of professional liability defense, labor and employment law, and products liability defense and construction defect litigation. She defends medical professionals against claims of professional negligence and medical board claims in addition to advising medical professionals about risk management matters. She also defends lawyers against bar discipline matters and advises them about risk management matters.
Her employment law practice involves defending employers against discrimination and retaliation suits and advising employers in matters involving the WARN Act.
Ms. Parker joined Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in January 2010. Previously she was an associate at Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt for three years.
In October 2011, Ms. Parker was named as an honoree at the 2011 Convocation on Equality for her contributions to advancing the cause of diversity in the legal community over the past decade, and for outstanding and consistent work.
Since 2009, Ms. Parker has been named annually to the
Rising Stars list by Oregon
Super Lawyers & Rising Stars magazine.
Ms. Parker is a member of the Oregon Hispanic Bar Association. She served as this organization’s Secretary in 2008 and President in 2009, and is a member of its Board of Directors. Her professional memberships also include the Oregon State Bar, the Hispanic National Bar Association, the Oregon Women Lawyers, and the Multnomah Bar Association, where she is a member of the Judicial Screening Committee.
On May 3, 2010, Oregon Governor Theodore Kulongoski appointed Ms. Parker to the Oregon Commission on Hispanic Affairs. She was confirmed by the Oregon Senate for a three-year term effective on June 1, 2010. In May 2011, Ms. Parker was selected as an “Emerging Leader” by Oregon House of Representative Jefferson Smith.
Prior to her legal career, Ms. Parker worked for the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (formerly the Immigration and Naturalization Service) as a district adjudication officer. Before that, she was an immigration caseworker and congressional speechwriter for former U.S. Representative Darlene Hooley (D-Oregon, Fifth District).
During law school, Ms. Parker clerked for the Employment Section of the Trial Division of the Oregon Department of Justice.
In addition to her other law school achievements, Ms. Parker was selected as Outstanding Oral Advocate by the Moot Court Board. She served as class president in her second and third years; was a member of the Dean’s List; and received high paper awards in Employment Law, Constitutional Law and International Law.
Ms. Parker is a co-author of “The Oregon Resources Manual” (2007, 2008 and 2009 editions), published by Associated Oregon Industries. She is also a co-author of “
La Promesa en el Derecho,” published by the Hispanic National Bar Association in 2009. Ms. Parker's other publications include:

Ms. Parker volunteers her time to a number of organizations, including Loaves and Fishes and the Oregon Food Bank.
